Persian restaurant Rumi’s Kitchen opens its third Atlanta location next spring at Colony Square on the corner of 14th and Peachtree streets in midtown, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reports. The restaurant, owned by chef Ali Mesghali, takes over the space previously planned for Iselle Kitchen + Bar, from San Diego chef Chris Gentile.
It seems Gentile is no longer with the restaurant and North American Properties, the group behind the re-do of Colony Square, “were not prepared to move on [with Iselle] with someone who was unknown to us.”
Construction on Rumi’s-Midtown kicks off in December. The nearly 5,000-square-foot restaurant also includes a large outdoor patio.
Rumi’s, a constant on Eater Atlanta’s 38 Essential Restaurants list, joins Indigo Road’s (O-Ku, Donetto, Tiny Lou’s) Charlotte-based sushi and poke restaurant Sukoshi, fast-casual burritos, wraps, and soup and salad shop Freshii, Starbucks, iPic dine-in theatre, and food hall Main & Main at Colony Square.
Neighboring Establishment bar and restaurant just reopened at Colony Square after closing temporarily for renovations and to revamp its food and drink menus. Establishment is currently completing work on its patio and new outdoor bar called “Tight Squeeze”.
Establishment overlooks the green space the Grove at Colony Square and will eventually offer access to Main and Main — the 28,000-square-foot food hall next door.
Rumi’s Kitchen opened along Roswell Road in Sandy Springs in 2006, bringing with it an elegant Persian dining experience paired great wine and impeccable service. The menu runs the gamut from labneh and dolmeh to a wide variety of kabobs and large entrees like lamb shank served with lentils and basmati rice. A second location opened at another North American Properties-run development, Alpharetta’s Avalon, in 2017.
